Story of David - Day 18

I Samuel 17:55-58 – “And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell. And the king said, Enquire thou whose son the stripling is. And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand. And Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I am the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”
In I Samuel 17:55-58, we witness King Saul's curiosity about David's family lineage. While this may seem like a simple inquiry, it holds a profound lesson for us about the importance of remembering the impact our family has made on our lives.
Saul, having witnessed David's incredible victory over Goliath, sought to know whose son this remarkable young man was. He recognized that greatness often has its roots in family heritage. Just as David was the son of Jesse, we too are part of a lineage, a family tree that has shaped us in countless ways.
As we reflect on Saul's question, let’s ponder our own family's influence. Our parents, grandparents, and ancestors have played pivotal roles in molding our character and values. Their faith, love, and sacrifices have contributed to the people we have become.
Take a moment to appreciate the role your family has played in shaping who you are today.
