Tuesday - The Freedom to Serve

I Corinthians 9:19 “For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.”

Galatians 5:13 “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another”

Paul said, “Though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all.” Christian liberty doesn’t mean doing whatever we please, but it means the freedom to live for others rather than ourselves. The world teaches us to use freedom for self-promotion, and it is our tendency to capitalize on our freedom to push the boundaries in our life. However, Christ teaches us to use it for service! Limiting ourselves out of love opens the door for someone else to see the gospel through us.

Today, use your freedom to serve. Choose one way to put someone else first. Maybe it’s speaking kindly when you could be sarcastic, listening when you could talk, or helping when no one notices. Your willingness to limit yourself may be the very thing God uses to open their heart to the gospel!
