Wednesday - Growing in Unity and Knowledge

Ephesians 4:11-13 – “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”

Philippians 2:1-4 – “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.”

God's design for the church involves continual growth – not just in numbers, but in unity and in the knowledge of Christ. Today's passage shows us that spiritual leaders are given to equip believers, so that together we can grow into maturity.

Unity doesn't mean uniformity. It means standing together around the core truths of the gospel, despite our differences. And growing in the knowledge of Christ goes beyond just learning facts about Him. It's about knowing Him personally and intimately.

How can you contribute to the unity of your church today? In what ways are you actively pursuing a deeper knowledge of Christ? Remember, our goal is to become more like Jesus, not to compare ourselves with others.
