Wednesday - The Patient Love of God

II Peter 3:8-9 – “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Longsuffering - the willingness to suffer long with others - reflects the very heart of God towards us. Today's reading reminds us that God's patience is rooted in His desire for all to come to repentance. This patience has been extended to us, and we're called to extend it to others.

Reflect on God's patience in your own life. How has He continued to love and pursue you, even in your moments of failure or rebellion? Now consider someone in your life who tests your patience. How can you demonstrate God's longsuffering love to them? Pray for the strength to love patiently, even when it's difficult. Ask God to help you see others through His eyes, remembering the patience He has shown you.
