Tuesday - Stay Awake
Mark 13:5-6 – “And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
Jesus’ first instruction about the last days isn’t a timeline; it’s a warning. He knew that deception would intensify as history draws to its close. “Many shall come in my name,” He said, “and shall deceive many.” False teachers often use Christ’s name but present a more palatable gospel – a Jesus who asks little and fits our culture. That’s why He urges us to “take heed.”
How do we avoid being misled? By knowing the real Christ so well that counterfeits are obvious. Banks train tellers to spot counterfeit bills by having them handle genuine currency until they feel its texture instinctively. Immerse yourself in Scripture and walk with the Lord daily. The Holy Spirit gives discernment to those who abide in Him. Instead of chasing sensational teachings, fix your eyes on the unchanging Jesus revealed in God’s Word.
