Tuesday - Faith Comes By Hearing

Romans 10:14-17 – “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith doesn’t just show up out of nowhere like a lightning bolt from heaven. It grows over time, and it grows in a very specific way. The Bible says, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. That is why sitting under good, biblical preaching matters so much. God uses His Word to build your faith. There is something powerful about hearing Scripture preached that hits differently than just reading it on your own. Haven’t you ever felt like a message was meant just for you? That wasn’t coincidence. That was God’s Word taking root in your heart. So make it a priority to be where the Word is being preached and taught faithfully. Guard that time. Make room for it in your life. Every time you hear from God’s Word, your faith is being strengthened whether you realize it or not.
