Monday - The Power of Community

Nehemiah 3:1-5 – “Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they built the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel. And next unto him builded the men of Jericho. And next to them builded Zaccur the son of Imri. But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof. And next unto them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana. And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord.

Acts 2:42-44 – “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common;”

The rebuilding of Jerusalem's wall wasn't accomplished by a solitary hero – it required a community working in unity. Forty different individuals and groups laid aside their differences to pursue one common goal. In our individualistic culture, we often forget that God designed His work to be done together. The early church understood this, devoting themselves to fellowship and sharing life together.

Today, consider how God is calling you to step out of isolation and into community. Who has God placed beside you? What walls is He asking you to help rebuild?

Remember, you weren't meant to build alone. When believers work side by side, what seems impossible becomes achievable through God's power and our collective faithfulness.
