Wednesday - Faith Over Fear

Mark 4:38-40 – "And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, caress thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the storm, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?"

The disciples reacted to their circumstances in fear!
They were terrified for their lives.

Jesus wondered why they were so fearful, but then asks about their faith.

You see, the Bible says in Hebrews 11:1, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
This means that faith is believing in the unseen. It is belief plus trust.

Have you ever done a trust fall?
The true test of trust is not moving your feet, but having faith that the other person will catch you.

When the disciples had the choice...they feared rather than had faith.
They moved their feet.

You and I have a choice in every trial.
To be fearful in our trial...or to have faith in God.

Today, where is your faith?
Are you fearful of the waves or is your faith resting in a God that cares for you.
