Monday - Marriage Is a Picture of the Gospel

Ephesians 5:31–32 – “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

Marriage was never meant to point only to companionship or romance. Paul tells us that marriage ultimately points to something far greater: the relationship between Christ and His church. When a husband and wife become one, God is putting the gospel on display.

Paul calls this a “great mystery,” not because it is confusing, but because it is profound. Marriage is one of God’s chosen illustrations to show the world how Jesus loves His people. The way spouses pursue unity, forgiveness, and faithfulness preaches a message about Christ every day.

Christianity does not stop when we get home. The gospel shapes how we speak, how we handle conflict, and how we love when it is difficult. When marriage reflects Christ, it becomes a powerful testimony of grace.
