Thursday - Sacrificial Love Lived Out Daily

Ephesians 5:25 – “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”

This is one of the highest and most demanding commands in all of Scripture. God does not call husbands to love in whatever way feels natural or comfortable. He calls them to love the way Christ loves.

At first, many men hear this and think in terms of a single heroic act. “I would die for my wife.” And while that sounds noble, Paul is pointing to something deeper. Christ did not merely give His life at the cross. He gave His life every single day before the cross.

Jesus sacrificed comfort, convenience, and personal preference. He lived with others in mind. His love showed up in ordinary moments just as much as in extraordinary ones. That is the kind of love husbands are called to reflect.

Sacrificial love is often quiet. It looks like choosing patience instead of frustration. It looks like listening when you are tired. It looks like stepping in to help without being asked. It means laying down personal wants for the good of your wife and home.

This kind of love is not about perfection. It is about direction. Day by day, sacrificial love creates safety, trust, and strength in a marriage. It mirrors the steady, faithful love of Christ toward His church.
