Tuesday - Christ as the Head of the Church

Colossians 1:15-20 - " Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."
Today we explore Christ's role as the Head of the church. Just as the head directs the body, Jesus governs, guides, and gives life to His church. He is not a figurehead or a distant leader, He is actively involved, and His authority is supreme.
Think about your own walk: Are you living in step with the direction Christ is giving? Are you staying connected to Him through prayer, the Word, and obedience? A body can’t function properly without a strong connection to its head. And as believers, we were never meant to live disconnected or independent from Christ.
Also reflect on your place in the church—His body. Are you functioning as a healthy, contributing member? Are you using your gifts, building up others, and helping carry out the mission of the church?
A body thrives when every part works together under the direction of the head. Ask God to show you how you can strengthen your connection to Christ and your involvement in His church. Let your life reflect that He truly is the Head.
