Thursday - Courage in the Face of Opposition

Nehemiah 2:19–20
“But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?
Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build.”

Joshua 1:9
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

The moment the vision became public, opposition appeared.

Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem mocked the work and ridiculed the builders.

Opposition often follows anything God desires to accomplish. Critics question the vision. Doubters challenge the plan. Discouragement tries to creep in.

But Nehemiah responded with confidence:

“The God of heaven, he will prosper us.”

His courage was not based on his own ability. It was based on God’s presence.

When God calls you to something, the size of the opposition does not determine the outcome. What matters is whose hand is upon you.

Courage does not mean there is no fear. It means moving forward because you trust the God who called you.
