Friday - Opposition

Nehemiah 2:10 – “When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.”

The moment Nehemiah arrives in Jerusalem, opposition begins.

  • He hasn’t rebuilt anything yet.
  • He hasn’t even started the work.
But the enemies of God’s people are already disturbed.

Why? - Because whenever God begins to move, opposition follows.

Throughout Scripture we see this pattern:

  • Pharaoh resisted Moses.
  • Enemies opposed Ezra rebuilding the temple.
  • The early church faced persecution.

The same reality exists today.

When we move forward in obedience to God, resistance will come. Sometimes it comes through discouragement. Sometimes through criticism. Sometimes through spiritual battles we cannot see.

But resistance does not always mean something is wrong.
Sometimes it means the work matters.
