Friday - Choose the Cross

Matthew 27:5 – “And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.”

Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Judas’s story ends in one of the most tragic ways in all of Scripture.

Overwhelmed with guilt, he threw down the silver, walked away, and took his own life.

He felt the weight of his sin.
He knew what he had done.

But instead of running to Jesus, he ran to despair.

That’s the tragedy.

Because just hours later, Jesus would go to the cross to pay for that very sin.

Forgiveness was available.
Grace was within reach.
But Judas never came.

At the end of his story, there were two paths.

One led to a noose.
The other led to a cross.

Judas chose the noose.

But you do not have to.

Jesus went to the cross knowing every failure, every sin, every act of betrayal, and He still chose to die for you.

You do not have to carry your guilt.
You do not have to live buried under shame.
You do not have to let your failure define you.

The cross proves that mercy is still available.

The question is not whether Jesus will forgive.

The question is whether you will come.
