Friday - Embracing God's Love

Romans 8:35-39 - "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

We conclude our week by meditating on the profound love of God, which is the foundation for all we've explored this week. Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3 includes a request that we might "comprehend... the love of Christ which passeth knowledge" (Ephesians 3:19).

Today's passage in Romans assures us that nothing can separate us from God's love. This love is the source of God's power in our lives, the reason for His indwelling presence, the motivation for our living for His glory, and the basis for our confident prayers.

Reflect on the vastness of God's love for you. How does knowing you are deeply and unconditionally loved by the Creator of the universe change how you view yourself and your circumstances? Today, let God's love wash over you anew, and allow it to overflow into how you treat others.
