Thursday - Learning a New Way in Christ

Ephesians 4:20–21 – “But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus.”

John 14:6 – “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

When we come to Christ, we do not just receive forgiveness. We receive an entirely new way to live. Paul says we have been taught by Christ and that the truth is in Him. Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

Think about learning a new sport. You cannot keep playing the old way if you want to succeed. If you have ever tried to change your golf swing or adjust your baseball stance, you know how hard it is to unlearn old habits. But until you do, you cannot move forward.

The same is true in the Christian life. Following Jesus means letting go of the world’s values and embracing truth. You cannot hold on to your old way of living and fully experience the new life He gives.

So ask yourself today. Are there areas where you are trying to follow Jesus while still holding onto worldly thinking? Are you still swinging the bat of your old life instead of embracing the new swing of the gospel?
