Wednesday - Meeting People Where They Are

I Corinthians 9:20-22 “And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”

Paul became “as a Jew… as without law… as weak” so he could reach them. He didn’t compromise truth but adjusted his approach for the sake of the message. Christians today should do the same! The gospel’s power isn’t hindered by cultural, generational, or social differences, but our pride can be. We must be willing to adapt without abandoning holiness.

Remember how we talk to children? We reach their level. Not in a condescending way, but we want to be able to communicate to the level of understanding. Our pride does not get in the way to talk to children, and our pride should have no place in our conversations with those who need the gospel!

This week, ask yourself, “Am I willing to meet people where they are?” Maybe that means stepping into an uncomfortable conversation, joining a community event, or simply listening without judgment. Don’t let preference or pride become barriers to the gospel.

Remember!! Christ met you right where you were! Rejoice in that and love others the same way.
