Tuesday - Knowledge vs Wisdom

James 1:19–25 – “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

Knowledge tells you what is true. Wisdom shows you how to live it.
James reminds us that hearing God’s Word is not enough. It is possible to know the Bible from cover to cover and still miss the point if we never live it out. You can memorize verses, take notes, attend every service, and still live foolishly if what you know never changes how you live.

Wisdom is where knowledge meets obedience. It bridges the gap between understanding and action. It does not just ask, “What does the Bible say?” It asks, “How will I obey it today?”
James uses a simple picture. God’s Word is like a mirror. It shows you the truth about yourself. But wisdom goes a step further. It compels you to do something about what you see.
Don’t settle for knowledge that never moves you. Let truth lead to transformation. Take what you know about God’s Word and live it out today. That’s where blessing begins.
