Monday - When God Moves, His People Sing

Psalm 40:3 – “And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God…”

Luke 1:46–47  - “And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.”

Have you ever noticed how singing just feels natural at Christmas? It’s almost automatic. The decorations go up, the music comes on, and suddenly we’re all humming songs we’ve known our entire lives.

That’s not accidental.

When God began moving on that first Christmas, His people responded with a song. Mary didn’t plan this. She didn’t sit down to compose lyrics. In the middle of overwhelming news, confirmed promises, and a future she couldn’t fully understand, worship just poured out of her.

Mary teaches us something important here: worship is often the overflow of recognizing what God is doing. When you truly see His hand at work, praise becomes the natural response.

Maybe this Christmas season has felt busy or heavy. Maybe it’s been joyful. Either way, God is still moving. And when we slow down enough to see that, it puts a song back in our hearts.
