Tuesday - A Heart Shaped By God’s Word

Psalm 119:11 – “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

Luke 1:46–49 “And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.”

One of the most incredible parts of Mary’s song is how saturated it is with Scripture. Nearly every line echoes something God had already spoken in His Word.

And here’s what makes that remarkable: Mary was young, and she didn’t own a Bible. No study tools. No notes. No apps. Yet when life turned upside down, what came out of her was Scripture.

That tells us something. God’s Word wasn’t just something Mary heard occasionally. It had shaped her thinking. It lived in her heart.

The truth is, what’s in us comes out of us, especially in unexpected moments. When stress hits, fear creeps in, or uncertainty rises, whatever we’ve filled our hearts with will surface.

Mary reminds us that God’s Word isn’t meant to sit on a shelf. It’s meant to shape us from the inside out.
