My family and I recently took a trip to the Black Hills and checked out Mt. Rushmore. It was amazing to see the sculptures of four U.S. presidents that represent different aspects of our country's history and identity.
But did you know that Mt. Rushmore is more than just a tribute to human achievements? (We can also find/see/recognize a deeper meaning…) It also carries a more profound message about God's faithfulness and sovereignty over history. God has always worked through leaders like these to fulfill His plans for the world, and even in tough times, He stays true to His promises and His people.
II Corinthians 1:20 – “For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”
Deuteronomy 7:9 – “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;”
When we think about what Mt. Rushmore stands for, we can also think about God's faithfulness and how it affects our lives. We can be thankful for His faithfulness in the past, trust Him for His faithfulness now, and hope in Him for His faithfulness in the future.
Mt. Rushmore is a reminder of God's faithfulness, and we should make our lives a testament to His faithfulness too.
