Monday - When the Pain Comes From Within

Read Nehemiah 5:1–5
Nehemiah 5:1 – "And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews."

Up to this point, the trouble had come from the outside. Sanballat and Tobiah mocked the work and threatened the workers. But now the cry isn't against the enemies. It's against "their brethren the Jews." The pain has moved in-house.

It's one thing to be mocked by your enemies. It's another thing to be mistreated by your brothers. And if the enemy can't stop the work from the outside, he'll try to divide the workers on the inside.

Conflict is part of life. If you're around people, eventually you'll be around conflict — in your family, your marriage, your friendships, and yes, even in the church. The question isn't whether it will come. The question is what you'll do when it does.
