Friday - Devotion

Nehemiah 5:19 – "Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people."

After everything — the integrity, the hard work, the generosity — watch how Nehemiah closes it out. Two words tell you everything: "my God." He wasn't just trying to build a wall, or lead a people, or make a name for himself.

At the end of the day, Nehemiah was living for God.

-       He feared God more than he feared man.

-       He wanted God's approval more than man's applause.

-       He cared more about pleasing God than profiting from people.

That is the heart of devotion.

-       My life belongs to God.

-       My position belongs to God.

-       My influence belongs to God.

-       My resources belong to God.

-       Everything I am and everything I have is to be used for Him.

Everything I am and everything I have is to be used for Him.

And that is what ties this whole passage together. Nehemiah could live with integrity, work with humility, and give with generosity because his heart belonged to God.

That’s the kind of devotion God blesses.
