Monday - Who Is Jesus?

Luke 9:18-20 — “And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.”

Before Jesus ever spoke about discipleship, He asked a question that every person must answer: "Who do you say that I am?" The disciples had heard what the crowds were saying. Some believed Jesus was a prophet, while others thought He was someone else entirely, but Jesus wasn't interested in public opinion. He wanted a personal confession. Peter boldly declared that Jesus was "the Christ of God," recognizing Him as the Messiah. Christianity does not begin with church attendance, good morals, or religious activity—it begins with a right understanding of who Jesus is.

The same question confronts us today. Is Jesus merely an inspiring teacher, a historical figure, or someone you acknowledge on Sundays? Or is He truly the Lord of your life? Everything that follows in this passage depends on that answer. If Jesus is the Christ, then He deserves our trust, obedience, and worship. Spend time today reflecting on who Jesus is and what place He holds in your life. Ask yourself: Does the way I live demonstrate that Jesus is truly my Lord?
