Tuesday - The Fine Print of Your Relationships

Nehemiah 10:30 – And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons.

Yesterday the whole nation signed one covenant together, one document, one oath. Today we find out exactly what they promised, starting in the last place you would expect.

Of everything they could have listed first, this is what came first. Not the money. Not the building. Their homes. Who their children would marry, and who would be sitting at their table shaping their grandchildren's faith.

This was never about where somebody was born. The nations around them worshipped other gods, and marriage into those families had already dragged Israel into idolatry more than once. Even Solomon, with all his wisdom, went down that road. So this commitment was not prejudice. It was protection.

You are who you let closest to you. Not who you avoid. Who you let in. The people you let shape your normal will always shape your walk with God, one direction or the other. Who has that kind of access to your heart right now?
