Thursday - Courage: Refuse to Give Up

Psalm 27:10–12 – “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.”

David honestly admits that he nearly gave up. He was discouraged and ready to lose heart.

But something stopped him: he still believed in the goodness of God.

Then David preached to his own heart: “Wait on the Lord…wait, I say, on the Lord.”

Courage isn’t the absence of discouragement. It’s refusing to let discouragement win. Sometimes courage means trusting God for one more day.

Reflect: What truth about God do you need to preach to your heart today?
