Tuesday - Time With God

Philippians 4:6— "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."

Psalm 16:11— "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

God doesn't just tell us to stop worrying. He tells us what to do instead: pray. Turn every care into a prayer.

The first word Paul uses, "prayer," is the broadest word for prayer in Scripture. It means conversation and communion with God, and enjoying His presence. Prayer was never meant to be only a way to get God to do something for us. It is meant to be personal, close and deliberate time with Him.

In His presence, worry loses its grip, because in His presence is "fulness of joy." David Brainerd wrote, "Oh! one hour with God infinitely exceeds all the pleasures and delights of this lower world."

Is your prayer life mostly requests, or do you spend time simply being with God?
